Carbs. The enemy of your healthy lifestyle and the one thing that has stopped you from getting the bikini body you've always dreamed of (well...NOT REALLY). What if there was a supplement that could allow you to eat carbs without them being absorbed into your body? Enter: carb-blockers
All jokes aside, carbs are not your enemy, however, an excess of carbs are. But to fully understand why carbs are not your enemy and how carb blockers work, we need to start at the beginning.
What are Carbs?
Carbohydrates are one of three macronutrients in our diets, the others being protein and fat. The main job of carbohydrates is to provide us with energy. Most carbs in the body are broken down into glucose and used as energy. They can also be stored as fat to be a form of stored energy. In essence, carbs are not bad. However, it is important to realize that there are different types of carbs and some are more beneficial to our bodies than others.
Complex Carbs vs. Simple Carbs.
Simply, complex carbs are unprocessed and contain fiber, whereas simple carbs are processed and stripped of their fiber. Complex carbs are therefore better for you and include items such as vegetables, whole grains and potatoes. We want to include more of these carbs in our diet and less simple carbs (like white bread and pastries).
Where do carb blockers come in?
Carb blockers block the enzymes needed to digest carbs. So, when you take carb blockers and eat a high carb meal, only SOME of the carbs you eat will be absorbed.
But don't get carried away. Carb blockers are not miracle weight loss pills.
As we said, they do not prevent all of the carbs you eat from being absorbed. *sigh* Even though processed foods are not effected by carb blockers, the supplement is going to be most effective on complex carbs, rather than simple carbs. So, think of them as a carbohydrate partitioner, allowing you to use you recently acquired (good) carbs more readily as energy.
So why should you use them?
Carb blockers are supplements. As the name suggests, supplements are meant to be added to a healthy diet and regular exercise, not in place of them. If you are looking to shed those few extra pounds before your next vacation, a carb blocker can be an excellent addition for you. Also, if you are worried about gaining back weight you had worked so hard to lose on your vacation, a carb blocker could also be useful to you.
Which carb blocker do you suggest?
We recommend Slinmax, which is a product from Torrance-based Performax Labs.
